So Cosplay America was this last weekend. It had some pro’s and cons and since I like to keep these positive I’ll start with the Pro’s.
The staff was amazing, they kept in touch with us the whole convention checking in to make sure we were ok and didn’t need anything. We were with the amazing Kitty Winter this time and she makes everything fun! We got to load in through the lobby on Thursday night and we got set up pretty quick. While the crowd wasn’t very big they were pretty spendy, at least at our table. And I got to see a ton of amazing cosplayers. I even took the stage in my newest costume.
On the downside though the crowd was not anywhere near where the con predicted. We were supposed to have about 1200 attendees and at most we had 400. It was disappointing to say the least but it’s about average for Sakura Sisters. The price for the tables was excessive for the size of the convention and load out was a bit of a pain. It would be nice to see some more variation in table size and price and I didn’t really have the sense that there was a lot of advertising going on for this con. Two of the guests cancelled, one for a family emergency and one for reasons unspecified and I think it messed up the scheduling and probably the attendance. We did make a decent profit on this con thanks to Sunday sales but it would have been nice to see a few more attendees. We’re hoping that they can iron out the rough spots in the convention because we would love to go back next year.
And now that the review is out of the way its time for the pictures!!
