Hey everyone! I know its been a while since I did a Con review. September was busy month and I just didn’t have time so I’m going to do one big post with reviews and pics for the last few cons we did! I’m also going to be writing posts in the future containing more expanded tips and tricks for selling your stuff at conventions so stay tuned for more!!
DoDecaCon – Columbia Missouri Sept 16 – 18th
DoDecaCon was fantastic! We had so much fun and met so many wonderful people. We also ran into old friends. We are so happy this con actually went on though as the Organizer had a family tragedy. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to Randy Taylor and his family. We raffled off our big Harry Potter Birthday kit to Kennith Kidder. He was so happy to have it. I was honestly a bit apprehensive about this one since it had just moved to a new location but it was a pleasant surprise. The local school had a field trip to the convention so the students could see how some people do business and the kids were super happy to be there.
SpaCon – Hot Springs Arkansas September 23 – 25th
SpaCon was a huge surprise to us. We didn’t realize that this was a first year convention until we got there and the welcome packet had this letter:
We really would not have know by the way the con was run. It was a first year con run like a fifth year con with a crowd to match, though that might have had something to do with this:
Seriously though the organizers were excellent. They kept us updated every step of the way, they checked on us regularly, they made loading in and out a total breeze, they even provided all the tax forms we needed. And Arkansas has been a really good state for us business wise. We had a great time, didn’t get many pictures because no one stood still long enough but I grabbed a few. We plan on going back next year, here’s hoping they keep up the great work and keep running it so well.
Archon 40 – Collinsville Illinois Sept 30th – Oct 2nd
We signed up for this one kinda last minute. We’d been to a few cons in Illinois before and its always been a good state for us but wow! Archon has been going on for 40 years and they have some dedicated fans who loved our stuff. We got to meet some truly wonderful people and this Con knows how to handle themselves. Load in was easy and load out was even easier. The staff were friendly and made sure we were ok. As for sales we had people coming in right up to the last minute purchasing from us on Sunday. It was great! We have already signed up for next year and can’t wait to go back!
We have this next weekend off but we won’t be idle. Our next con is FalCon3 in Montavallo Alabama the 15th and 16th. We look forward to meeting new friends!
